Q: How tall are you when on the stilts?
- Answer: About 10 feet tall.
Q: How tall are you without the stilts on?
- Answer: I am 5 feet tall.
Q: Is it tiring on your legs, walking on stilts?
- Answer: It can be if I am on them for a long period of time, or if the terrain is very uneven. It takes a lot more effort to walk up and down hills, or against the wind on a windy day. Usually an hour and a half on a smooth surface is fine, before I should take a break.
Q: How long did it take to learn stilt walking?
- Answer: It took a few days, inside of a studio, to learn the balance with an instructor. After the initial guidance, there are weeks of practice inside and out doors, on pavement and grass, curbs and steps. It is important to have an awareness of the ground I am walking on, to be able to avert tripping and falling.
Q: Can you jump off the stilts if you start to fall?
- Answer: No. The stilts are strapped to my legs.
Q: What would happen if someone unknowingly bumped into you?
- Answer: That has happened before, I felt very solid, like a tree. The person wasnt aware that I was there.
Q. Are you cautious in large crowds?
- Answer: Yes! I have often had a body guard during certain events, where there are crowds of people, for example Halloween night. I often have a spotter with me during a parade, especially if there are icy conditions on the pavement.
